The Mantilla by Norman Lindsay was an original etching released in 1925 to a edition of 35 only, it is now December 7th that the release of the Facsimile etching The Mantilla with a image size of 17.5x14cm is being released to a limit of 550 only, The mantilla by Norman Lindsay at Etching House 7th December 2011.
The original works is referenced in the Norman Lindsay Etchings: Catalogue Raisonne cat 264, The Mantilla is a dry point and etching etched in 1925, the original etching was shown for the first time at the Grosvenor Galleries.
This release of the Facsimile etching shows clearly how the beauty of the dry point technique makes the works of Norman Lindsay seem so rich in colour and detail.
A Mantilla is often known as a Spanish woman’s scarf used to cover there hair head and shoulders. The Mantilla was reproduced in a book prior to the book the complete etchings of Norman Lindsay in 1973 by Angus and Robinson titled The Two Hundred Etchings.
